How do I control who can register?
A guide to using Manual Approval
If you are running an auction and would like to restrict, limit, or review online registrations before they are able to bid you can use the Manual Approval feature.
Note that this feature will will apply for all bidders for a specific auction. If you would like to manually approve only new / first time users you can find details in this article.
Terms and Conditions
Manual Approval is a feature of Terms and Conditions, so it can be used for specific auctions. When creating your terms, use the Require Manual Approval checkbox to enable this feature:
You may also choose to include a Manual Approval Message by typing information or instructions in the text box. Once the online registration process is complete, the message you type will appear as a pop-up on screen.
If you opt not to create a custom message, the default message is:
"You have successfully registered for this auction. You will be able to bid once approved by our staff."
Note - you may still use the Credit Card Check feature to capture credit card details at the time of registration if needed.
Providing Additional Documents
If you want to give your bidders access to additional documents they would need to submit as part of their registration there are two ways you can include these with the auction details.
Including a hyperlink to these documents if you have them available online
This could be added to the auction description, an item description, or the terms and conditions verbiage
Uploading Documents to an item in the auction
This could be added to an informational lot at the start of the auction
Bidder Experience
Once a bidder has provided their personal information and agreed to the terms and conditions, the custom or default manual approval message will appear in a pop-up like the recording below:
Until they are approved, they will be unable to place any bids - the bid button will display Pending Approval:
Admin Approval
Once someone completes a registration with Manual Approval enabled, all admins will receive an email notification informing them that a bidder has registered and is pending approval.
This email will contain a link directing you to the Administer Registrations page of your BidWrangler Admin Portal.
From the Administer Registrations screen, you will see bidders who are pending approval indicated by the red X next to their name in the Approved For Online column:
Once they have satisfied the additional requirements of your registration process, and you are ready to approve them, you can click this icon to approve their registration.
The bidder will now be able to place bids and will receive an email notification informing them that they have been approved:
Approving Registrations via the Clerking Panel
It is also possible to change a bidder's registration approval status from the online clerking panel using the + icon next to their name in the bidder list:
