Which CSV Columns Are Required for the Bidders Import vs the Registrations Import?

Learn which CSV columns the BidWrangler Bidders Import and Registrations Import require, what each import does, and how the column mapping step works.

The Bidders Import requires First Name, Last Name, and Email Address. The Registrations Import requires First Name, Last Name, Email Address, and a Paddle Number. Every other column, phone and address fields included, is optional.

The two imports do different work, so pick the one that matches your goal.

The Bidders Import creates new user accounts or updates existing bidder information in bulk. It can assign a permanent bidder number to an account. It does not register anyone for an auction.

The Registrations Import creates accounts where needed and registers each bidder for the auction you select. Each imported bidder is approved for that auction automatically. This import does not assign permanent bidder numbers. If you want to register and approve a full list of bidders for one sale, use the Registrations Import.

The Bidders Import needs three columns on every row:

• First Name

• Last Name

• Email Address

The email address is the unique identifier on a BidWrangler account. A re-import with the same email address updates the existing account and does not create a second user.

1. Open the BidWrangler admin portal.

2. Click on Bidder Import.

3. Click on Create.

4. Upload your .csv file

5. Map your columns to the BidWrangler fields.

6. Click on Save.

7. Monitor the progress of the import on the import screen.

The Registrations Import needs these columns on every row:

• First Name

• Last Name

• Email Address

• Paddle number

he paddle number you supply maps to the Online paddle number or the Live paddle number for that auction.

Two constraints apply to the paddle numbers in your file:

• Each paddle number must be greater than or equal to the auction's Online Starting Paddle Number. The default value is 10,000.

• If the sale runs across multiple platforms with an external paddle range configured, the number must fall inside that range.

1. Open the BidWrangler admin portal.

2. Click on Registrations Import.

3. Click on Create.

4. Select an Auction from the drop-down.

5. Select a Buyer's Premium from the drop-down.

6. Map your columns to the BidWrangler fields.

7. Click on Save.

8. Monitor the progress of the import on the import screen.

With both imports there are 5 address fields available, labeled as Location Street, Location City, Location State, Location Zip, and Location Country.

• The Location State and Location Country fields must use a two-letter abbreviation, eg: PA for Pennsylvania, VA for Virginia, AB for Alberta, US for United States, CA for Canada, etc.

Both imports include a mapping step. On the mapping screen, you line your columns up with the BidWrangler fields. Your headers can stay exactly as your system already writes them. You do not need to match a template byte for byte.

A row fails when the paddle number in the file is already in use by a different user. A row also fails when the bidder is already registered for the selected auction.

If a bidder already carries a permanent bidder number on their account, the file must use that exact number. A different number on that row causes an error.

If you've only mapped one 'location' column, or have not used the two-letter abbreviation for state or country, the address will not be mapped.
