How to Import Sale Results with a CSV File

Edited

How to import sale results into BidWrangler with a CSV file: the required lot and bid columns, and why you import into a completed auction only.

The Sale Results import records winning bids from a completed sale, one row per lot, from a CSV file. Every row needs a first name, a last name, a lot identifier, and a bid amount, plus the same paddle and email columns as the Registrations import. Each row ends its lot and records the imported amount as the winning bid, so import into a completed auction only.

When to Use the Sale Results Import

Use this import to bring results from a live sale or another platform into BidWrangler for invoicing. The import registers each winner where needed, so one file can carry both the registration data and the results. The import is not available for multi-par auctions.

Check Your File Against the Auction First

The Lot identifier in each row must exactly match a lot already in the selected auction. A row with no match fails with "Item with lot ID X not found" in the report. Paddle numbers follow the same minimum as the Registrations import: at or above the auction's starting paddle number, which is 10,000 by default.

How to Run a Sale Results Import

  1. Make sure that the auction is complete.

  2. In the BidWrangler admin portal, open Imports and select Sale results imports.

  3. Click Create.

  4. Select the auction.

  5. Select the Buyer's Premium for the imported registrations.

  6. Attach your CSV file.

  7. Map First name, Last name, Lot identifier, Bid amount, and your paddle and email columns.

  8. Save to start the import.

  9. Examine the import report for rows that failed.

What Each Column Accepts

Required: Lot identifier must exactly match a lot in the selected auction. Bid amount is the winning bid, recorded against the bidder in that row. First name and Last name are required as on the Registrations import.

Paddle and email columns follow the Registrations import rules. An online paddle number with an account email records the bid as a manual online bid. A live paddle number alone records it as a live bid, and the row is matched to an existing placeholder bidder by name and paddle number.

Optional columns (phone numbers, driver license, organization name, tax ID) and the all-or-nothing address rule are identical to the Registrations import. Leave every address column empty, or supply a complete valid address, or the row fails.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to run the same file twice?

Yes. A second run of the same file records the same results again. A corrected file over live bidding is not safe, because the import replaces the bids on each lot in the file.

Why do rows fail with "Item with lot ID X not found"?

The Lot identifier in that row does not exactly match a lot in the selected auction. Make sure that the identifiers in the file match the auction's lots, and that the correct auction is selected.

Can I use this import on a multipar auction?

No. The Sale Results import page is not available for multipar auctions.

How is the bid recorded, online or live?

A row with an online paddle number and an account email records a manual online bid. A row with a live paddle number and no email records a live bid.

Why does every row fail on the paddle number?

Paddle numbers must be at or above the auction's starting paddle number, which is 10,000 by default. Renumber the file, or lower the starting number on the auction.
