How Do I Assign Sellers to Auctions and Lots?

You can assign a seller to every item in an auction at once or to one lot at a time. The Seller Settlement dropdown in the auction settings sets a default seller for every item in that auction. The Seller field in Auction Review assigns a seller to one lot. Create the seller first, then assign the seller.

Set a default seller when one consignor owns every item in the auction, or when items came into the auction without a seller. The default applies to every item in the auction in one step. Assign lots one at a time when different consignors own different lots, for example in a consignment auction.

• Create the seller first. In the BidWrangler Admin Portal, click Seller in the left menu under Company, then click + Create.

• A seller needs a first name, a last name, and an email address.

1. In the BidWrangler Admin Portal, open the auction.

2. Click the pencil icon to edit the auction settings.

3. Scroll down to the Seller Settlement section.

4. Select the seller from the Seller Settlement dropdown.

5. Click Save.

The default seller now applies to every item in the auction. Items in your other auctions keep the seller that they already have.

NOTE: The Seller Settlement section also includes an option to create a new seller and to assign Seller Settings and Seller Commissions for the auction.

1. In the BidWrangler Admin Portal, find the auction.

2. Click Review to open the Auction Review page.

3. Click the lot.

4. In the cataloging window, scroll down to Seller.

5. Select the seller.

6. Click SAVE.

The seller is now assigned to that lot for settlements during auction reconciliation.

Will setting a default seller affect my other auctions?

No. The default seller applies only to the items in the auction where you set it. Items in your other auctions keep the seller that they already have.

Can I change the seller on just one lot after I set a default?

Yes. Open the lot in Auction Review, scroll down to Seller, select a different seller, and click SAVE. The change applies to that lot only.

Can I create a new seller while I edit the auction?

Yes. The Seller Settlement section in the auction settings includes an option to create a new seller for that auction.

Why do I need to assign sellers at all?

Seller assignment drives Seller Settlements. After the auction closes, you can create a settlement for each seller with the tax rates and commissions for that seller's items.

Do commission settings on the seller record override the auction settings?

Yes. A commission or tax setting saved on the seller record takes precedence over the values set at the auction level or the item level.
