What equipment do you recommend for doing a broadcast?

If you are planning to broadcast an auction in the future and unsure about what equipment to use, many customers of ours have had luck with the following:

Webcams

  1. Logitech c920
  2. Logitech c920 C

Microphones

  1. Shure Sm58s
  2. Sennheiser 935s

Wireless Microphone Systems

  1. Shure BLX14/PGA31 Wireless Headworn Microphone System - J11 Band
  2. Shure PGXD24/SM58-X8 Digital Wireless Microphone System with SM58 Handheld Vocal Mic

Audio Interfaces

  1. Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen)
  2. Behringer UM22

Please keep in mind that while this equipment works for some companies, it may not be right for you - this list of equipment is a good place to start researching at. We cannot provide IT support for hardware setups, so it may be helpful to hire outside help.

Make sure you test your equipment weeks ahead, as well as hours prior to the event. Test your streaming capability from the auction itself, as well as Tokbox's Precall Tool: https://tokbox.com/developer/tools/precall/ (Based on the results, it will make recommendations on the expected audio/video quality, and it will provide steps to troubleshoot any issues)

The broadcasting capability in BidWrangler is via an integration with Tokbox. The functionality is a simple on or off, so selecting what input devices are used is dependent on your browser's settings. In Chrome, you will find this in Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Permissions/Camera OR Microphone. From there, make sure that the specified device is selected from the dropdown menu, and that your platform URL (https://subdomain.bidwrangler.com) has permission to use a camera or microphone.
